The Director of Air Traffic Organization
Operations Planning Research and Development advises and assists the Administrator and Associate
Administrator for Research and Acquisitions in the management, direction,
and coordination of the agency's research and development program. She
is responsible for establishing the FAA's research and development (R&D)
policy, developing its investment portfolio, and serving as the agency's
R&D spokesman. These duties include: strategic planning and policy
formation; program assessment and development; collaborative activities
with domestic and international partners; technology assessment; future
system requirements and design; and the management of the human factors,
aviation security, and airport and aircraft safety research and development
programs.
