Critical Research for Aviation's Future

The FAA is committed to enhancing safety and increasing capacity in the national aviation system. This commitment is evident in the Agency's R&D program, which is developing new technologies, tools, and procedures to meet both near- and long-term aviation goals and objectives.

The Office of Aviation Research and Development, in partnership with the aviation community, is providing world leadership in the conduct of high-priority research and the development of innovative technologies to ensure and enhance the continued success of a safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally acceptable global aviation system.

Our Mission: To conduct, coordinate, and support domestic and international research and development of products and services that will ensure a safe, efficient, and environmentally compatible global air transportation system.
